AeroTrac Refined: Adaptability and Versatility.
If you’ve moved to the Tether Tools AeroTrac, or just toyed with the idea, you might be missing some of the mounting options you once had on a Digiplate, or similar laptop plate. The first improvement I made for the AeroTrac was the Shade Mount for AeroTrac, it solved the immediate need for a sun hood, but the more I worked with AeroTrac, the more I realized there was room for improvement and I wanted ways to mount the tools as I had used in the past in a similar fashion.

The New Stuff:
3/8"-16 Anti-Twist T-Nut
Standard T-nuts (or Accessory Threads as Tether Tools refers to them) are fine for mounting basic gear. However, when it comes to adapting other Faini Made accessories, they aren't exactly "plug-and-play" since you need to use a few of the accessory threads and a nylon spacer to get things just right.
The Fix: I designed this T-Nut specifically for the AeroTrac’s internal geometry. It offers two 3/8"-16 threaded holes with 1-inch on-center spacing, matching the industry standard found on most professional laptop plates.
The "Anti-Twist" Factor: It features integrated Arri-standard style pins that lock into the track. Once you torque it down, it stays put.
Build: Machined from 6061 aluminum, it includes a stainless grub screw to lock it into your preferred position. I also added a little extra depth to the threads to accommodate the 1/2" long screws included with many of my other accessories.

Accessory Mount for Tether Tool AeroTrac Workstation
While the T-nut is great for mounting gear in a fixed position on the top or bottom of the plate, sometimes you need something with more "heft" or better line-of-sight for signals. If you're mounting a wireless HDMI transmitter or a router, the Accessory Mount is the dedicated solution.
The Design: This mount offers one 3/8"-16 and one 1/4"-20 threaded hole, both featuring Arri-style anti-twist pin receivers.
Versatility: The mount slides directly into the AeroTrac track and locks down with either an included 1/4"-20 thumbscrew or an M5 stainless set screw for a lower profile. It’s the perfect anchor point for transmitters, portable monitors, or iPad mounts.
Workflow: Because the mount is designed to live in the tracks, it can stay attached to the workstation, on the top or bottom during transport. This allows for a much faster breakdown and deployment when you're jumping between locations.
The goal with the Faini Made ecosystem has always been to solve the small, repetitive annoyances that add up over a long shoot day. These solutions are to help make the setup and wrap quicker and easier no matter which platform you use while allowing greater versatility to easily utilize the gear to might already have. You can find both the Anti-Twist T-Nut and the Accessory Mount over in the shop now. As always, stay tuned for more Field Guide updates as there's always something new cooking.
